The Friends of the Medford Family Network want to share a heartfelt thank you to everyone for coming out, donating and supporting the MFN with our 30th anniversary “Going Back To The 90’s: Where It All Began” fundraising gala!

We had over 175 guests attend the gala, lovely speeches were given and happy tears were shed, with the help of Megan and Clayton Jones, we surprised Marie Cassidy and her amazing staff with a flash mob dance, danced the night away, played keepie uppie, gave away almost 60 raffles prizes from local and national businesses, plus many from individuals – and together we smashed our goal and have raised almost $32,000 through ticket sales, donations, raffles & silent auctions.

The Gala has a long history moving through Medford from the former SpringStep, to City Hall, then on to Wright’s Pond – and this year we took it even further to the wonderful Elks Function Hall, but it has always been planned and run 100% by parent volunteers! Each year we make adjustments, introduce new things and make changes – and are always learning. We are aware of some glitches and apologize for any confusion this may have caused. We would love to get your feedback to improve and make adjustments to future events with this survey.

We want to express our deep gratitude to the following individuals and businesses who made our event a resounding success:

  • Simple Fare Catering: Their exceptional team at Simple Fare Catering played a vital role in our event’s success.
  • Pinky’s Pizza: We appreciate Pinky’s Pizza for their delicious late-night pizza contribution.
  • Hoffs Bakery and Edelweiss Patisserie: Their delectable desserts added a delightful touch to our event.
  • Marina Carlson from High Tide Events: Marina generously donated her time and expertise, allowing volunteers and parents to enjoy the evening.
  • Medford Grad Peter Accolla from NuImage: Peter created the perfect musical ambiance with NuImage.
  • Tracey Trello and the Team at Medford/Malden Elks: We want to thank them for their generous venue donation and countless support. You can contact them at Medford/Malden Elks.
  • Photographer Maryam Atta: Thank you so much for sharing you skills and time to document the evening through photography! We look forward to sharing those photos soon!
  • Our incredible team of FMFN Gala volunteers: Arianne Pniower, Nicole Lyon, Ada Gunning, Caroline Leaming, Sarah Lucas, Ashley Mercurio, Brittany Saia, Rebecca Fales, Emily Hartnett, Melissa Healey, Rebecca Emami and Daniel D’Agata – plus support from MFN Advisory Board members Nisha Shah Bishnoi, Alexis Davis, Lisa Kingsley and Cara Higgins. Your tireless efforts, passion, dedication, sincerity, thoughtfulness, and talents and so much more made tonight’s celebration possible.

We kindly request you to express your appreciation for these businesses by leaving reviews online or considering them for your future events and needs. Your support is invaluable and helps us continue our mission. Thank you!

We are excited to share that two bonuses for you as well! We received a new, last minute auction item for 2 tickets to Friday night’s Celtics game against the Brooklyn Nets. Perhaps you were eyeing the bag included as part of our Maine Getaway Package. The mother owned business has offered $50 off buy using promo code FMFN50 when purchasing a Breeze Bag.

We would love your involvement in future events put on by the FMFN and MFN, including next year’s gala. Many hands and heads will make for lighter work in planning this important community fundraising event. Please include your interest in the survey or follow up to this email!

Thank you for your shared support and love for the Medford Family Network!

With gratitude,

What is a gala anyways?

It’s a big, glitzy party or gathering, often characterized by formal attire and upscale entertainment – but in this case wear what makes you feel fabulous and ready for a fun night for an amazing cause!

I can't make it, how can I participate?

Feelin’ blue ’cause you can’t roll to the Gala? No sweat, you can still be part of the hype by being a part of the online auction! Score cool stuff like cruisin’ to school with the top cop, hittin’ the jackpot at Encore Casino, Birthday Parties, Cat Kid Comic Club, and a whole bunch of other rad goodies!

What does the ticket include?
  • Open bar including beer/wine/mixed drinks
  • Delcious vareity of appetizers and stations and hearty pasta options and rolls from Simple Fare, dessert from local bakeries, 90s Theme snacks and treats and late night pizza
  • Pro DJ for a fun night of dancing
  • While also raising money to help support the Medford Family Network for another 30 years!
What should I wear?

You’re totally welcome to rock that fly 90s gear or just strut your stuff in your favorite party threads. It’s all about the vibes, so come as you feel it! Check out these ideas!

Whether you can make it to the event or not we are excited to offer special edition shirts and gear for the occasion! Pick the style and size you like best. If you want to see kids shirts offered as well – let us know! You can choose to have them shipped to you directly for a small charge, but if you want to make sure to have them for the event, have them shipped to the MFN for free. Orders must be in Sunday, September 24th!

– plus a fun collaboration with a local business to help find fun outfits!

Will childcare be available?

We are excited to share that Medford Rec has put together an affordable fun evening for the kids, offering a “Adults Night Out” program again this year for children while you’re at the Gala! Sign-ups begeing Oct 6th. Space is limited!

Is the event wheelchair-friendly?

Unfortunately, the Elks Funciton isn’t wheelchair-friendly, but no worries! If you or anyone you know needs some extra help or accommodations, shoot us an email at, and our awesome crew of volunteers will make sure everyone can get in and out safely.

If you want to stay in the loop and catch all the news about the event, hop onto our email list!
